Skillion and Lean-to-Roof
A combination of two different roofs covers all angles.
Skillion roofs have a single slope like a shed or pitched roof, and no ridges on the roofline. The result is walls of varying heights within the structure. Combining a pitched roof with a skillion
roof creates an interesting crisscross angle with a modern look and creates a great space for a clerestory window.

The vertical space created as a result of the two overhanging roof angles is the perfect location for a skylight.

There are ridges with pitched roofs and no ridges. The visual interest comes from the juxtaposition of the separate planes of the roof angles.

Skillion roofs are quick, easy and inexpensive to install. The steeper slope allows water to run off more easily and reduces the need for an additional waterproof roofing membrane as is required on low sloped roofs. Steep pitches also lend themselves well to more modern designs, and materials used on technical roofs such as metal tend to be smooth, unlike shingles or tile on traditional gable or hip roofs.
